Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir: The death toll in the targeted terror attack on non-local workers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has risen to two after an injured labourer succumbed to his injuries on Saturday (August 1, 2026).
The deceased has been identified as Bhopendra, a resident of Chhattisgarh. He was critically injured after terrorists opened fire on a group of non-local workers on Friday (July 31, 2026), suffering bullet injuries to his chest. He was immediately shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.The attack, which targeted non-local labourers, had already claimed one life on Friday, while Bhopendra’s death has now taken the toll to two.
Security forces have launched a massive search operation in the area to track down the attackers, and investigations into the incident are underway.The terror attack has once again raised concerns over the safety of migrant workers in the Kashmir Valley. Authorities have condemned the attack and are taking necessary measures to strengthen security in the region.
