Over the top streaming service i.e. OTT is continuously expanding in India. Its business has grown at a compounded rate of 30 per cent in the last five years. The Jio revolution that took place in the year 2016 has done the work of taking internet to every household. After this, rapid growth has also been seen in the OTT market, which has increased from Rs 7600 crore to more than Rs 30 thousand crore in the year 2021. But with this positive development, some negative things have also increased rapidly. That OTT content has obscenity, vulgarity and abusive language. No matter how many claims are being made for content regulation after the introduction of the new IT law, but the reality is that porn is being served directly in the name of erotic content. Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan has openly expressed his opinion about this reality.

The actor says, “I think there should be censorship on OTT. Obscenity, nudity and profanity should be banned. Now even 15-16 year old children can watch it. You will like it, your little daughter should see all this on the pretext of studying. I just feel that there should be a check on OTT. It must pass through a filter. The cleaner the content, the better it will be, the higher will be its viewership.
Salman Khan further says, “You have done everything, love making, kissing, exposed yourself completely on screen. You’re entering your building and your WatchMatch is watching your content. That’s why I think it is not correct even because of the security region. I don’t think we need to do all this. live in India. It is okay to a little bit, but in the meantime it was too much, now it is under control. Now people have also started working on good and decent content.” If seen, there is substance in Salman’s words. We do not tell the figures that how much obscenity is spread on OTT. Even in a simple web series, you will get abusive language in general. It seems as if profanity is an essential element for web series.
The excess of content filled with obscenity, nudity and profanity on OTT had increased rapidly during the lockdown caused by Corona. During this time people were sitting empty in their homes. Artists working in TV serials and films did not have work. Taking advantage of this opportunity, some people like Raj Kundra started making porn content in the name of erotic inside the boundary wall. At the same time platforms like Alt Balaji, MX Player and Ullu app were flooded with obscene content. It has become such that violence, sex and profanity have become the parameters for selling content. However, people have also resisted it. In the year 2020, a total of 12616 cases were registered for spreading porn content. But only 3650 cases were investigated and charge sheet could be filed in it.

Agreed that some movies have violent scenes, but most of the movies can be watched sitting with the family. The bigger thing is that Salman has added a clause in his contract that he will not do intimate scenes and kissing scenes in films. He signs the film only after agreeing on the ‘no kissing scene clause’. He believes that his mother Salma watches his films. If she sees such scenes then it will be a very strange situation. He has done kissing scene in only one film so far. That is his debut film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Kissing scene was to be shot with Bhagyashree in this, but both were not ready for it. In the end, film director Sooraj Barjatya put a glass of glass between the two. After that the kissing scene could be shot. Since then, Salman has repented from it.
