What Nawazuddin Siddiqui said on big budget films is the reality of Bollywood

Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s two films ‘Afwah’ and ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’ are going to be released in May. During this, he has talked about Hindi films continuously flopping. He says that big budget films are ruining the Hindi film industry.

Bollywood films are continuously performing poorly at the box office. More than half a dozen films released only this year have either flopped or proved to be a disaster. These include Karthik Aryan’s film ‘Shahzada’ (budget – 75 crores and collection 47 crores), Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Selfie’ (budget – 110 crores and collection 23 crores), Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ (budget – 110 crores and collection 100 crores) and Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Bhola’ (budget – 100 crores and collection 79 crores). All these films are of Bollywood’s big super stars, who once upon a time used to do well at the box office. But today is super flop. Regarding big budget films, Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that such films are working to destroy the Hindi film industry.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that there is neither any story nor acting nor direction in big budget films. Such films are made formula based with big stars. The reason for this is that the audience is continuously rejecting such films. Which is taking the Hindi film industry towards bad times. Nawazuddin says, “There is no story in big budget films. Some songs are taken in these, which are designed by choreographers. If there is action in many films, then the action designers prepare it. What the director or actor does in this is beyond comprehension. Along with this, filmmakers make films with certain actors, whom people do not even want to see. One is the actor of the public and the other is of the industry. Others keep coming back, but the audience doesn’t like them.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui believes that most of the big budget films are flopping because of these reasons. By the way, there is substance in Nawaz’s words. The budget of a film is not high because its shooting or production cost is high. Rather, it happens because the fees of the stars cast in it are high. For example, take Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Selfie’. The budget of this film is 110 crores. The biggest part in this budget will be for Akshay’s fees. Everyone knows that he charges up to Rs 100 crore for a film. Admittedly, due to the flop of the films, he would have reduced his fees a bit, even then he must have taken 60 to 70 crores. In such a situation, more than half of the budget has been spent on them. Because of that the budget of the film also increased.

Here the basic budget of the film ‘Selfie’ can be up to a maximum of Rs 50 crores. If this film was released with this budget, then definitely it would not have suffered much loss. Not only Akshay, many stars including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan are charging fees up to Rs 100 crore. Taking these stars in films simply means increasing the budget of the film. If their fees were less, then the budget of the film would have been less and there would not have been any pressure to earn more money. In such a situation, there would have been more chances of survival of the filmmakers. Today most of the film makers have almost stopped making films. Even those who are making big production houses, they are also working on selected films only. As Yash Raj Films is currently focused on the films of its Spy Universe.

A few days ago, Nawazuddin had said on the box office collection, “The responsibility of this should be on the film makers. Why should an actor be bothered for the sale of tickets. I see it as corruption of craft. Why should an actor talk about box office? Those stars who charge 100 crores for each of their films, they actually harm the films. A small or modest budget film never flops. Every time a film’s budget is more than required, it will be a flop. Actor, director and story writer never flop. Films have a budget because of which a film becomes a hit or a flop.” If seen, Nawaz has been consistently vocal against Bollywood filmmakers for some time now. aimed against them.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has struggled for a long time. Nawaz has seen all kinds of days in his journey from Saharanpur to Mumbai. Many times without eating, without sleeping. He himself had once said about his poverty, “My house used to be as big as my personal bathroom is today. When I came to Mumbai, I stayed in very small places, which I used to share with four other struggling actors. That room was so small that if I opened the door, it would have hit someone’s feet because we all used to sleep on the floor. Slowly I started sharing the room with three people. Then with two people. In the year 2005, I started living alone.” He has a bungalow worth crores today, but his personal life is full of troubles. Everyone knows about the ongoing quarrel with his wife.
